CIRA's Policy to Support Research and Publication:
Preamble
-
To foster the development of research and of scholarly publications in
industrial relations in Canada and in accordance with Section 2 of its
Statutes, in 1998 the Canadian Industrial Relations Association set up a
fund to support research and publication.
-
In 1998, the fund was set up from a $10.00 levy on annual membership
dues.
Criteria
-
In addition to the customary criterion of academic quality, CIRA aims
to support the publication of projects which
-
concern Canada,
-
are of general interest for the industrial relations community,
-
focus on an emerging issue,
-
and are ideally written in French and English
Procedure
-
CIRA provides funding to only one project at a time. In the final
phase of a work's production, CIRA will invite its members to
submit research proposals for the next publishing project to its
Secretariat.
-
On recommendation of the Research Policy Committee, CIRA's
Executive Committee will choose the project to be financed. The
decision will be announced at the Members' Annual General Meeting.
-
CIRA's support will take the form of a promise to the publisher to
purchase a copy of the completed work for every CIRA member.
